Life is always busy and full of challenges in Hope Valley. Abigail must deal with the railroad potentially coming to Hope Valley and the benefits and costs that would come with it. Elizabeth and Jack have volunteered to coach the kids in baseball, and Elizabeth works hard to inspire a young boy who is sure he cannot participate due to a leg injury. With her encouragement, the boy is able to find the courage to take part in the game.

It's Christmas time once again in Hope Valley, and Lucas has taken it upon himself to host a spectacular holiday festival for the town. Meanwhile, Nathan receives a tempting job offer that would take him and Allie away from the community they've grown to love, while Elizabeth faces the challenge of finding a Christmas tradition that will create lasting memories for Little Jack.

The residents of Hope Valley are ready to overcome any obstacles that come their way. When school supplies run low, Elizabeth works with her students to create a carnival to raise funds. However, there are more challenges in store for Elizabeth when she is betrayed and her beloved job as a teacher is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Jack, Frank and Bill must face off against escaped criminals. There are certainly no dull moments in Hope Valley.
